American Girl Doll Hair Care

Hey!  This is Violet.  Some times your doll's hair can get frizzy or tangled if you don't treat it properly.  I have a few tips to prevent this from happening.

  1. Use a brush with wire bristles only
  2. Spray hair with water and brush out completely before styling hair
  3. Don't leave in a hair style for more than a week

If your doll's hair does get frizzy or tangled follow these steps.
  1. If you've styled her hair, take it out.
  2. Using a spray bottle, get all of her hair wet.  Brush her hair out completely.
  3. Ask a parent if you can trim the ends of her hair because some of the hair gets stretched and will              be longer or uneven
  4. Ask a parent to hold your doll over the garbage can or sink.  Tell him\her to hold the doll's hair away from her body.
  5. Use sharp scissors, small enough for you to handle and cut the extra long strands of hair.  Make sure the cut is straight.
Once you've made you're doll's hair look neat again try to keep it that way.  Tassie keeps her doll's hair in a loose pony tail when she's not playing with it.  When you're done playing with your doll, although sometimes it's hard to let go of a style that you've done really well, try to take out any thing you've done to your doll's hair.  Brush it out and pull it into a low ponytail.  Make sure it's looser than regular ponytails because leaving a tight hairstyle in for a long time can leave dents or creases.
